![]() Well, here we are. If you have written a Buffy / Spike story and wish to have it archived here, the process is relatively simple, and hopefully painless. 1. SEND IN WORD 97, LOTUS WORDPRO OR PLAIN TEXT INSIDE A MAIL MESSAGE - I can't accept other formats. If it's in Word 97 the document can't have any macros, because they'll be disabled before I open it. 2. DON'T SEND IT ALL AT ONCE - If it's thirty megabytes big, I really won't appreciate it all at once. Let me know how long it is, page-wise, and I'll tell you how to send it. 3. SPELLCHECK BEFOREHAND - I reserve the right to correct spelling if I find the odd misspelled word. I reserve the right to send the story back to you with an unhappy note if I find you've misspelt the characters' names. Let's recap:
WILLOW ROSENBERG ALEXANDER (XANDER) HARRIS RUPERT GILES CORDELIA CHASE ANGEL / ANGELUS DOYLE SPIKE / WILLIAM THE BLOODY DRUSILLA OZ ANYA ETHAN RAYNE SNYDER 4. NO FORMATTING - Don't bother adding in funky colours or tables or whatever to the document, as it all gets reformatted to fit in with the 'look' of the site. It just means more work for me if I have to remove it. 5. LABELS - Make a note in the notes before the story - *very* clearly - what you expect the rating for the story to be. The archivist reserves the right to change the ratings upon evaluation (so, you may *feel* that your hot PWP is only worthy of a PG because, hell, you were reading these when you were thirteen..... but I'll have to slap an NC-17 on it in any case). The ratings should be in the American standard - NC-17 for 18's and over only, R for 15's and over only, PG-13 for parental guidance - 13's and over only, and G, for suitable for all. Also, make a note of the main characters featured. It's always going to be Buffy / Spike, but if it's also Willow / Giles, or Xander / Oz, than say so please! 6. I WILL NOT ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING - There is, in fact, only one thing that I will not, under any circumstances, feature on this archive. This is a moral stance, and, as the song goes, I will not be moved. I will not archive any stories that have explicit sexual assaults against children. If there are such instances in your story, I am sure that there are essential to the storyline and needed in a creative sense. However, there are sick people out there that surf the net with the sole purpose of finding or promoting child pornography and/or sexual abuse. They are unlikely to read any stories to indulge in a fandom; rather to satisfy their perverse needs. I will not be a party to inadvertently assisting them in their cravings. If you have a story with such an encounter, and you would still like me to feature it, please email me to warn me of any such content and I will confer with you to come to a compromise. Usually that will involve making the assault (and yes, it is *always* an assault, not a sexual encounter!) less graphic, if not cutting out the relevant parts altogether. If your story features such abuse (and I have read many good, insightful stories that give the characters a troubled childhood) but is not graphic, there won't be a problem as long as it has the relevant warnings somewhere in its disclaimer. 7. HAVE FUN! - *Enjoy* your writing. Don't stress too much over it. You write because you love it - so enjoy. ;-)
You can email me the story, or perhaps post it to a fanfic list first (see the fanfic links section for more information on that).
